Vanquish Endermans: A Minecraft Guide
Imagine you're exploring the vast, blocky expanse of Minecraft, when suddenly, you spot a pair of glowing eyes staring at you from the darkness. An Enderman has caught your gaze, and now it's teleporting towards you, its extended arm threatening. It's time to learn how to get rid of these pesky mobs efficiently.
Endermen can be quite a nuisance, especially for new players. They're not hostile unless provoked, but their ability to teleport through other mobs and even blocks makes them tricky to avoid. Let's delve into some strategies to vanquish or evade these lurking creatures.
Understanding Endermen
To effectively deal with Endermen, it's crucial to understand their behavior. Endermen are passive mobs found in the Overworld. They spawn in small groups, usually at night, but can be found during the day as well. They're 3 blocks tall, with a purple shell, and have the potential to attack anything that looks at them.
Endermen carry a block, which can be any full block, slabs, or even stairs. This makes them unique among other mobs. They spend their days looking for a suitable block to pick up and carry. This behavior can be exploited to control them.
Enderman Weaknesses
Endermen have a significant weakness that can be exploited: they despise cats. Cats cause Endermen to panic and drop their held block, making them an easy target. To attract an Enderman towards a cat, simply place a cat spawn on a high pillar. The Enderman will attempt to pick up the pillar and get close enough for the cat to attack.
Another lesser-known fact is that Endermen fear radiation. Lava filled with water bottles, or a cauldron filled with water and powdered snow, creates a steam cloud that can damage Endermen. Surrounding yourself with these can keep Endermen away.
Enderman Strengths
While they have their weaknesses, Endermen are formidable opponents due to their unique abilities. Endermen can teleport through blocks, making them surprisingly mobile. They can also break through most blocks, with the exception of bedrock and obsidian, making them difficult to trap.
Moreover, they can be quite persistent. If you're wearing a pumpkin or have any glowing item (like a diamond sword) in your main hand, Endermen will forever pursue you. This is because they perceive these as looking at them directly.
Fighting Endermen
If you find yourself in a fight with an Enderman, it's crucial to be prepared. Endermen have high health (30 hearts), and their attack damage is significant (9 hearts). They can also summon other Endermen to their aid, making fights even more challenging.
To fight Endermen, it's best to do so on your terms. Use a bow to attack from a safe distance. Alternatively, use a sword, but be prepared to dodge their relentless melee attacks. Hotbar-swapping with a shield can help block their hits, making combat more manageable.
Enderman Drops
A killed Enderman drops 0-1 Ender Pearls, 0-1 Ender Eye, and very rarely, an Ender Dragon egg. These items can be useful in other game situations, making it worthwhile to kill Endermen when necessary.
However, killing Endermen isn't always the best course of action. Exploring alternative strategies can be more efficient and less risky.
Sometimes, the best way to deal with Endermen is simply to avoid them. Build your base in a well-lit area, as Endermen primarily spawn in dark places. Light up your surroundings to deter them, and use fences to prevent them from entering your base. Remember, avoiding fights is often the smartest strategy in Minecraft.
